Fountain Hills Coin Club celebrates its 15th anniversary | Local news

The Fountain Hills Coin Club is celebrating its 15th anniversary this month.

The club was founded in 2007 and the group started their new season on January 11th.

At a meeting on November 9th, the officers for the current year were elected. You are John Gibson, President; Mike McCabe and Riley Pence, vice presidents; Bob Gallagher, secretary; and Carl Spencer, treasurer. Spencer has been the club treasurer for 15 years. He also directs the Münzschau events.

After a session and coin show hiatus during the pandemic, the club resumed meetings last May and held its first coin show in nearly two years. The October show included nearly 25 dealers and more than 100 participants. At the end of the show, one gold coin and three silver coins were raffled off in a raffle.

After the meetings resumed, two people have rejoined the club and there are three new members so far this year, including a youth member, a total of 34 paid members.

Club members also voted to change the meeting times to 6:00 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month with buy-sell-trade activity from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held at the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce on the corner of Verde River Drive and the Palisades.

Membership is open to young and adult collectors. Monthly meeting activities include an educational numismatic presentation, market update, show and tell, live auction, raffle, refreshments, and community.
