Gold rises Rs 555; Silver jumps Rs 975

According to HDFC Securities, the price of gold in the state capital rose Rs 555 to Rs 45,472 per 10 grams on Friday amid a devaluation of the rupee. In the previous trade, the precious metal was priced at 44,917 rupees per 10 grams. Silver prices also rose from Rs 57,425 per kilogram in the previous trade to Rs 975 to Rs 58,400 per kilogram.

The Indian rupee lost 12 paises to 74.35 against the US dollar in opening trade on Friday.

In the international market, gold traded slightly lower at $ 1,752 an ounce, while silver was flat at $ 22.16 an ounce.

“Gold has been trading steadily while spot gold prices on the COMEX traded marginally at $ 1,752 and were still above $ 1,750 an ounce on Friday,” said HDFC Securities, senior analyst (commodities), Tapan Patel.

The gold price capped today on the strength of the dollar after rising in the previous trading session, he added.
