Gold prices today at 46,190 rupees per 10 grams, silver tends at 68,700 rupees per kg

The price of 22 karat gold on Friday rose to 46,190 rupees for 10 grams from 45,740 rupees on Thursday. According to the Good Returns website, silver was priced at Rs 68,700 per kg.

The price of gold jewelry varies across India, the second largest consumer of the metal, due to consumption taxes, government taxes and changes.

In New Delhi the price of 22 carat gold fell to 46,150 rupees per 10 grams, in Chennai it fell to 44,430 rupees. The Mumbai price tag is Rs 46,190, according to the website.

The price of 24-karat gold fell on Friday from 46,740 rupees in the trading session on Thursday to 47,190 rupees per 10 grams.

Silver saw a sharp surge from Rs 1,100 to Rs 68,700 on Thursday from Rs 67,600 per kilogram on Wednesday.

The Indian rupee weakened 23 paises to 74.55 against the US dollar in opening trading Thursday, while a lackluster trend in domestic stocks and a stronger dollar index weighed on investor sentiment.

In the world market, gold prices rose during the trading session due to growing concerns about the spread of the delta variant of the coronavirus. The precious metal slid 6%, marking its biggest weekly drop in June.

Spot gold fell 0.1% to $ 1,787.30 an ounce by 1:51 p.m. EDT (1751 GMT), halting an initial upward trend on some bargain purchases.

US gold futures declined 0.3% to $ 1,773.40 an ounce.
