GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan – Over the past 20 years, many people have built up a collection of 9/11 memorabilia, and a Grand Rapids coin dealer recently got hold of a very interesting collector’s item.

Ben Soldaat received “American Silver Eagle” dollar coins recovered during the lengthy excavation following the attacks at Ground Zero in New York City.

The most interesting thing about it is that even though the Twin Towers collapsed overhead, the coins are not damaged.

The coins have withstood the intense heat and have become rare memories of all the brave souls who lost their lives that day.

“About two months after 9/11 they reached these underground floors and discovered that there were safes that were still largely intact with new coins in them,” said Soldaat. “Professional coin grading services got their hands on these and encapsulated them … These actually came from the World Trade Center and can be bought as a souvenir.”

Grand Rapids Coins only has a handful of these WTC Recovery Coins. For further information, click here.
