Supporting women-owned businesses during Women’s History Month: Salt & Bubbles

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. (WCAX) – drink wine. break bread. share community. That’s the motto of Salt & Bubbles Wine Bar and Market.

Kayla Silver opened Salt & Bubbles in June 2021. She says her mission is pretty simple. She wanted to create a space where people who love wine could relax and just enjoy.

“I usually notice that people kind of cringe and say, ‘Well, I like wine, but I’m not a wine connoisseur,'” Silver said. “And a desire to create a space that’s really accessible and makes people feel like they’re at home, and this wine is just something that they can enjoy and also feel a part of.”

At Salt & Bubbles, Silver says they focus on small production, family ownership, and sustainably grown winemaking. They also aim to introduce wine lovers to products they may not be familiar with.

“Expanding horizons beyond Napa California Chardonnay and Cabernet and French Bordeaux,” said Silver. “People are usually familiar with some of these really big name categories, but we want to tell you about Chilean wine. We would like to tell you about Georgian wine.”

Although they also stock men’s products, Silver says it’s a woman-owned company, they primarily look for wines from other women entrepreneurs.

“We work with Rosie’s Confections in Winooski. We work with many winemakers. We work with a baker who makes a lot of our desserts,” Silver said. “If there is an opportunity to represent truly amazing products owned and directed by women, I see no reason why we shouldn’t.”

Silver says Salt & Bubbles has been in business for the past nine months and has felt a great amount of support from the community. She hopes that she and other women entrepreneurs continue to get the recognition they deserve.

“There’s definitely a feminine energy here a lot. That being said, we certainly want all of our male wine lovers to jump in, but as this is a woman-owned piece we love who we are,” said Silversiad.

Salt & Bubbles is located in the Essex Experience.
