July 18, 2021 – WASHINGTON – The United States Mint (Mint) is pleased to announce the opening of sales for the redesigned American Eagle Silver Proof Coin 2021, starting July 20 at 12:00 PM EDT. Production is limited to 300,000 coins, with Orders are limited to three coins per household in the first 24 hours of sale.

The American Eagle Silver Proof Coins are collector’s versions of the official American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins from the United States Mint. This iconic coin has been minted at the West Point, NY facility since 1986 and has been updated to mark the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle Coin Program with an updated obverse (head) and a completely redesigned reverse (tail).

The obverse shows a refreshed representation of Adolph A. Weinman’s figure of freedom in full length in full gait, wrapped in folds of the flag, with an outstretched right hand and branches of laurel and oak in the left. The use of technological advances resulted in a design that today better reflects Weinman’s original vision and adds his traditional artist brand. The inscriptions are “LIBERTY”, “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “2021”.

The back, redesigned by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program designer Emily Damstra, shows an eagle preparing to land and carrying an oak branch as if to insert it into a nest. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, “1 OZ. FEIN SILVER ”and“ ONE DOLLAR ”. Retired United States Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso created the design.

In addition to the redesign of the back and the improvement of design details on the front, the redesigned American Eagle silver coins have been minted with new technology down to the smallest detail and contain a reed pattern variation. The mint has compared its efforts to anti-counterfeiting programs carried out by major mints around the world. These new features will make it difficult to counterfeit coins.

The 2021 American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof (W) is priced at $ 73. To set up a REMIND ME alarm, visit https://catalog.usmint.gov/american-eagle-2021-one-ounce-silver-proof-coin-21EAN.html (product code 21EAN).
